The new friends at the institute might be much more affectionate than his/her school friends. Along with, tell him/her that the more he/she is exposed to the outer environment, better is the chance of garnering more knowledge and experience.
Make your child aware that the strategies used by private tutors to teach might be different from his/her teachers. In such a case, he/she needs to give complete attention to the words and lessons of the tutor. Several studies have found that change in teacher can make a boring subject interesting for a child. This is due to the personal bias of the child. Hence, inspire him /her to be attentive. He/she can find the boring subjects interesting while being taught by the private tutors.
Craft the habit of questioning why to the tutor in the mind of your child whenever and wherever he/she has slightest doubt. It will offer your child dual advantage. First of all, he/she will get clarified on the concerned subject. Secondly, asking question in a group is the first step of avoiding any fear for crowd, public speaking and shyness.
Tell your child clearly that he/she might face some problem in the institute from day one. It helps him /her to remain prepared for it and using his/her presence of mind to counter it. Create time to listen to your child's everyday activities at the tuition center. From this you can easily mark whether the change is positive or negative.
Tuition centers organize different tests on different subjects. It might be on daily, weekly or periodical basis. Never scold your child if he scores lower in first few tests. The major reason behind it might be the required time to adjust with the new atmosphere. Otherwise, give him/her the confidence that he/she has the potential to top. If your child gets the required family support, it will not be a hard task to cope up with the new surrounding and excel in studies.
